Paying for my holiday the hard way

I have recently been on holiday and I have to say that I had a great time. Me and my friends all headed out to Greece for a week of fun in the sun, and we certainly had fun! The only problem is, when I got back from this holiday I had massively overspent. I guess I just got carried away over there and indulged in a little too much.
To be honest I was glad that I had done it, I would just have to find a way of getting my hands on some cash until I got paid again.

Replacing my disillusioned staff

I have a very difficult time retaining staff, simply because the work I can supply is far from regular. I generally need people to write for me, on average about twice a week, but someone committing to that obviously finds it hard to commit to any sort of full or part time roll anywhere else. I can understand the difficulty, but I have always found it hard to find staff in the first place so it is always doubly disappointing when they decide to move on. Fortunately I think that I have found a solution to the problem.

I normally advertise locally for freelance writers, which is both inefficient in terms of cost, and time consuming. I decided this time round that I must be getting close to exhausting the available workers in my area – so I decided to look online.

After a few days of difficulty finding anything at all, I finally came across a site which has lists and lists of people offering freelancing work! I couldn’t believe my eyes, because there were hundreds of people looking for work on a vaguely regular basis. This was perfect to me, and I could immediately see that it wouldn’t even matter if people decided to stop working for me – I had hundreds of ready made replacements all under one roof! All I needed to do was give a brief description of the sort of work I needed doing, and people would e mail me with their prices and availability! Problem solved and I am now one happy worker!

Escaping debt

A few years ago I actually thought that I was going to have my house repossessed. I had missed about four repayments on my mortgage, about two repayments on my car and several repayments on general items in the house – the tv, the washing machine and the hoover to name a few. Unfortunately I had never been cash rich but over the years I had worked hard to make sure that I had a good credit rating. Unfortunately once my rating was good I abused the fortunate situation I found myself in. I was behaving as if I was an obsessive the way I was purchasing things! Nothing was out of reach with a few credit cards with a big credit limit. I never even thought of the consequences pf having to pay all of this stuff back!

Naturally time caught up with me and I started to get some pretty threatening letters coming through the post. I panicked and decided to ask my friend for some financial help. When I spoke to him I was annoyed at first because he refused to give me money outright, saying that there werecways that I could help myself. When he finally explained that there were companies that offered debt consolidation I started to listen. It turned out that I could speak to a debt management company and they would be able to provide me with all the advice and help I could possibly need. They told me that I could consolidate my debts and it did actually turn out that I owed a lot less than I thought after the company had contacted all of my creditors and refinanced for me.

I eventually got myself out of bother, and I swore to myself never to get in the same trouble ever again. I only ever carry cash now!

Don’t be a Debt Slouch

A debt slouch is someone who lets laziness put their financial health at risk. They either ignore growing debt problems or waste valuable time by putting off the treatment. This starts the spiral of bad debt and denial that leaves the slouch with limited options in terms of the debt solutions that are available. Whether it’s down to self-consciousness, fear or just being idle, the debt slouch will find that their inaction at an early stage leads to a lot more work when their situation gets worse. So, it makes no sense to put off the debt problem; it’s not going anywhere.

Being a debt slouch doesn’t help anyone either. After all, ignoring your debt won’t make it go away; it will just get worse. So, instead of doing the small things that can make a big difference early on, the debt slouch will procrastinate, put-off and leave themselves with just the most severe solutions later. The first thing you should do when you can see debt problems on the horizon is ask for help. It’s not hard but it can solve the problem of bad debt before it starts. Of course, the slouch doesn’t see this. They would rather ignore the problem, hoping that it will somehow solve itself. They’re too lazy to make the couple of clicks that would put them in touch with a specialist debt advisor, able to offer financial first aid at a stage where severe debt problems can be averted.

The debt slouch may be acting this way because they’re afraid. They hide their heads in the sand and hope that the problem will solve itself. It won’t. There’s no need to face it alone though. Don’t be a lazy debt slouch; get help and get debt healthy.
